Introduction

PrompTerm ("we", "our", or "the app") is an SSH terminal client for Android developed by DevDen. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data.

PrompTerm operates entirely on your device. We do not:

Collect analytics or usage statistics
Track your location
Access your contacts or personal files
Send any data to external servers
Use advertising SDKs

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

Connection profiles: Saved using Android DataStore (local storage)
SSH passwords: Encrypted using Android KeyStore with AES-256-GCM
SSH private keys: Encrypted using Android KeyStore with AES-256-GCM
Host key fingerprints: Stored locally for TOFU (Trust On First Use) verification

Your credentials never leave your device and are protected by hardware-backed encryption when available.

Network Communications

PrompTerm only connects to servers you explicitly configure:

SSH connections to hosts you specify
mDNS discovery on your local network (optional)

We do not operate any backend servers. The app does not "phone home" or communicate with external servers.

Permissions

The app requests only the permissions necessary for its functionality:

Internet: To establish SSH connections
Foreground Service: To maintain connections when the app is in the background (optional keepalive feature)

Third-Party Services

PrompTerm does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Open Source

PrompTerm uses open-source libraries. A full list of licenses is available within the app under "Open-source Licenses".

Children's Privacy

PrompTerm is a technical tool intended for developers and system administrators. It is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
